Heads Up!!!
The cover is in POOR condition, the vinyl is in POOR condition (but playable)
This album is offered as it provides yet another little piece of the jigsaw in the giant puzzle of Australian music, its root's, where it's been and where it is going - sure the album is in pretty poor shape but I cannot bear to see this go to landfill (and poison our environment!) so it is being offered at a nominal price to cover my time cleaning it up as much as possible and listening to the album countless times (it is actually a really good listen)
HISTORY:
This is a film soundtrack album, music provided by Australian artists.
The film portrays surfers living in spiritual harmony with nature, making their own boards (and homes) as they travelled in search of the perfect wave across Australia's north-east coast, Bali and Hawaii.
Escapism, when the world was (and still is) full of challenges and threats (particularly to the young generation), anything that looked like an escape was very popular - the utopia of peace and harmony.
Artists who feature on these soundtracks are:
G.Wayne Thomas (NZ born but Australian based since 1968)
Terry Hannigan (Australian Rock'n'Roll Musician, Underwater Filmmaker, Award-winning Songwriter are amongst his many achievements)
Tamam Shud (Band formed in Newcastle NSW, they were into psychedelic, progressive and surf rock)
Brian Cadd (Australian singer-songwriter, keyboardist, producer and record label founder)
John J Francis (USA born but Newcastle NSW based in the early 1970's - recording artist)
Peter Howe (Australian musician, song-writer, lover of surf, peace and all things non-materialistic)
There is a lot of discussion online about this film and these artists, have a read. Particularly interesting is the treatment of Tamam Shud (lead vocals changed without the band's consent)
Back in 2015 we experienced a very bad storm here in Sydney, with lots of water. Some of my prized music was partially or substantially damaged - this is one album that the earth tried to take back from me!

Gatefold cover is in poor condition. The gatefold IS intact and actually there are no tears, no missing graphics and no writing BUT ... it is obvious on the front cover in particular that the album became damp and it has considerable mildew spots and a that typical cardboard "wave".
The inside of the gatefold is in better condition but again, obvious mildew spots around the surfboard.
The rear is in the best condition but light mildew spots can be seen.
All sections have been cleaned and stabilised as much as possible and the cover does NOT SMELL!
New inner plastic sleeve
Vinyl is in poor condition, visually inspected under a white halogen light source and I can see quite a number of very light through to a couple medium scratches - this album has had a lot of play in the past. The wet didn't penetrate through to the vinyl but I suspect some mildew also was growing within the grooves and have given it the VPI cleaning unit treatment (twice) - each time was an improvement in the noise but further careful cleaning wouldn't go astray.
Surface noise comments: sometimes at a medium level and sometimes low level. No "gunk" coming off on the styli!!! Very listenable, especially the louder tracks from Tamam Shud, where their music tends to bury the background surface noise.
Clicks/pop comments: Side A Track 1 has a few mistracks around the run-in area, this will be due to careless (drug induced?) dropping of the tonearm onto the vinyl or moving the tonearm carelessly. Not terrible "canyon" type mistracks but they can be heard (about 4 in total, all in the same area - examining the vinyl shows a medium level scratch is present)
All of the remaining tracks play WITHOUT mistracking although some have elevated surface noise (see above comments)
Sit back, chill out and empty your mind of the world's problems. This album will take you back to the days of "Peace Love Dove" tranquility, nature and harmony with the environment - the surface noise is not terrible and a bit like "reality" trying to break in on your mind trip.
