KUSF is the University Of San Francisco's radio station, currently operating as an on-line only station.
Previously it operated as a non-commercial "traditional" FM radio station (90.3Mhz) from 1963 until 2011.
The station strongly encouraged local talent and the recordings on this compilation album were sent to them as demo's for the station to evaluate/consider for airplay. Most demo's would have been cassette tapes, probably 4 track.
"The Germ" is a reference to one of the radio station's most well known DJ's who had overall responsibility for The KUSF Demo Tape Show, their real name is unknown though.
KUSF has quite an illustrious history, particularly their previous Metal radio show (NOT on this album) called Rampage, which began going to air in 1982. This show featured now legendary artists such as Mercyful Fate, Yngwie Malmsteen & Metallica and many more who all sent demo tapes to the station, receiving their first airplay on the Rampage show when no one else was willing to take a chance with them. The Rampage Show was an innovator in the world of punk rock in particular.
This album is does not contain music from those bands/artists mentioned above and is more of the genre, alternative rock. Here are the details of the bands/musicians on this release

Cover is in very good condition, no writing, no seam splits or tears, very light edge wear from handling
New inner plastic sleeve
Vinyl is in very good condition, visually inspected under a white halogen light source and I can only see a couple of very light scratches/marks on each side. Just taking a look at the vinyl is not a good way to judge the condition so I then played the compilation album ENTIRELY, every single track, and there are no significant issues with surface noise or click/pops.
If I was to make any comment, Side A track 3 (Carnival Law plays My Fortune) I did hear just a couple of low level 'thumps" but I cannot see any cause on the vinyl so perhaps this was coming from the original source recording (cassette media)
