Oh Dear! This item has been sold but take a look around for other similar items

Music is often connected to the mood of the listener and there are times when you may have just grown tired of the usual appetite of rock, pop, jazz etc - a taste of the 1812 Overture could be what you need!

Recorded September 1972 at De Lane Lea Music Centre, Wembley, England.

But there's more ...

The dynamic range of this recording is wide, opening with very quiet passages and then the music slowly 'rises' with a cresendo of bells and cannons firing! This variation in dynamics is quite a good test of your turntable's cartridge/styli capability of tracking the grooves correctly and your audio systems ability to cope with the sudden onslaught of much higher levels when the room fills with the sounds of the bells and cannons and the realism of those sounds. The bells and cannons are live recordings made at Military ceremonies, these are real sounds which were not created in the studio artificially (details are provided on the rear of the cover)

Side A is the 1812 Overture recording, performed live by The London Philharmonic Orchestra (with the Band Of The Coldstream Guards) and conducted by Vernon Handley

Side B is Capriccio Italien, Opus No. 45 performed live by The London Philharmonic Orchestra

Textured cover is in very good condition, no writing, no seam splits, no tears with only light edge wear from normal handling. Additional information on the rear cover regarding the source of the bells and cannon sounds, even detailing how far those cannons will fire!

New inner plastic liner sleeve

Vinyl record is in very good condition, visually inspected under a white halogen light source and I can see NO marks or scratches at all on either side. Just looking at a piece of shiny plastic often doesn't 'cut it', especially when it is 50 years old! I then played this album ENTIRELY, each side, and there are no issues with surface noise or click/pops - even the quieter passages at the beginning of the 1812 Overture were not troublesome.

New outer protective sleeve

Vernon Handley conducting

Recorded live 1972 at De Lane Lea Music Centre, Wembley ENGLAND

Most people will instantly recognise the 1812 Overture but to jog the memory ... (cresendo of bells, cymbals etc around 12:56)
