Oh Dear! This item has been sold but take a look around for other similar items

You may or may not be 'into' choral music but this album has other significant nostalgic value ...

Actually this album is not all about choir's as there are a few solo performances by students on Side B e.g Oboe and Piano duet

Front cover shows the beautiful Grand Organ installed in the Sydney Town Hall 1890. This wonderful organ was designed and manufactured in London and then bought out to Australia for installation. This photograph is from 1968, after which it underwent considerable restoration work between 1971 and 1982.

Amalgamated Wireless Australasia, one of Australia's greatest technological bohemoths was involved in many different areas of technology, the most well known being vacuum tube and semiconductor research (and manufacture), consumer and industry specific electronic equipment design and manufacture and of course, they were a major player in the Australian telecommunications industry. Once upon a time, just about anyone who worked in the electronics industry had their 'grounding' at AWA or Marconi Wireless.

But many do not realise that AWA also manufactured vinyl records.

AWA had vinyl production facilities and mainly worked with the broadcast industry supplying radio shows and radio commercials on vinyl. You don't see very many AWA records in the "general marketplace"

Don't confuse these records with 'acetates' which were also used in the broadcast industry (short lived recordings that could only be played a limited number of times) - this record I am offering is a 'real' vinyl record, the 'hard' type not those woosy soft vinyls used today!

North Sydney Technical High School does not exist any longer. It was built in 1878 and was a small school which had it's fair share of tough times and finally it was closed down and sold after many consultations over a protracted period to ensure it's heritage listing was being strongly protected.

Finally the site was sold and in 1992 the old school site became the Greenwood Hotel in North Sydney with much of the original school buildings remaining.

Lastly, perhaps (but unlikely) there is an ex-pupil yearning for an experience of the 'good ol' days' although I would imagine any ex pupil would have to be 70+ these days.

So, there is a LOT more to this album than first meets the eye!

Australian release

Cover is in very good condition, no tears, no seam splits and clean. A couple of marks made by a previous user on the rear cover indicating tracks of interest (light blue pen X)

New inner protective sleeve

Vinyl is in good condition, visually inspected under a bright white halogen light source and I can see just a couple of light scratches on either side. Just taking a look is often not good enough (particularly this older much harder vinyl) so I then played the release ENTIRELY, both sides, and there are no signifcant issues with surface noise but I did hear click/pops at times e.g Side A last track, light clicks at times and Side B there are a couple of tracks with medium level clicks but these are not of a long duration. Overall still a good listen to the school recital.

New outer protective plastic sleeve

Tracks: The Battle Hymn Of The Republic, Gloria In Excelsis, Sleepers Wake, Pilgrims Chorus, Soldiers Chorus, Traditional Japanese Folk Songs (Sakura Sakura, Asadoya Yunta Of Okinawa), Chim Chim Cheree, Still Still Still, Flute Solo (G. Maloney), Piano Duo (P. Rubenstein & A. Wakeley), Oboe Solo (M. Crouch), God Save The Queen
