Not the greatest of copies but still playable albiet with surface noise
More great blues rock from the early 70's, once heralded as America's answer to Led Zeppelin! You can just imagine the record labels scrambling for an American band to counter the success of Led Zeppelin - even the band name suggests something "if we don't find a band that sounds like Led Zeppelin, we are Cactus"
Really the only similarities lie on side B, very bluesy sound but side A is far more rock, rock n roll.
Cactus - One Way..Or Another
Atlantic Records
Cat# SD33-356
1971
Australian release
Gatefold cover is in very good condition, light handling edge wear
New inner plastic liner
Vinyl is in good to good minus condition, inspected under a white halogen light source, I can see numerous light (with some being medium) scuffs or scratches so the only real life test is to play the record entirely. Below is my critical listening opinion of each track.
Side A
Track 1: light to medium surface noise, very listenable - no mistracking
Track 2: light to medium surface noise, very listenable - no mistracking
Track 3: light surface noise, very listenable - no mistracking
Track 4: light to medium surface noise, perhaps more easily heard because the song begins very quietly but still very listenable - no mistracking
Side B
(two light scratches across the first & second track)
Track 1: light to medium surface noise, some clicks and pops but still very listenable
Track 2: opens very quietly so the surface noise is more apparent but after the song build up, the surface noise (which isn't terrible anyway) gets buried by the music but then when the song "quietens down" again, yes the surface noise jumps back up to medium levels - no mistracking
Track 3: light to medium surface noise but still very listenable - no mistracking
Track 4: same as for track 3
Overall, yes a bit on the noisy side when the music is quiet however no mistracking occurs on either side of the record.
New outer protective cover
