This record is very close to my wife's heart, being a Bicolano - actually more in line with the music her Dad listened to, this is old Kundiman music
Larry Miranda (Lorenzo Tapang) - Lumang Simbahan
Mayon Records
Cat# LPM-020
MONO RECORDING
197? (I cannot find the year of release at all but suspect it was in the late 1960's - early 1970's. Mayon released this album through Alpha Records which began operations in 1963 so I figure this release is dated sometime between 1963 and the late 1970's, just after Larry Miranda's death)
Philippines release
Cover is in good condition, no writing, no tears but there is medium edge wear from handling and a short top edge seam split which has been stabilised. Very clean cover.
New plastic inner sleeve is supplied
Vinyl is in good - very good condition, inspected under a white halogen light source and I can only see a few very light - light scratches on each side of the record. I then played both sides entirely and there are no significant issues with surface noise or clicks/pops - a really nice clean playback BUT ...
Underlying all of the tracks on Side 1 is a low level, low frequency sound, like a "hum" - it didn't really bother me except to wonder where on earth it was coming from. After lots of checking, changing the EQ on my amplifier, it is coming from the recording itself! At the run-in there is just normal surface clicks/pops before the recording begins, then once the recording begins the hum appears. I countered this by winding the Bass response way way back and this helped.
Side 2 DOES NOT HAVE THIS "HUM" AT ALL
Supplied in new outer protective plastic sleeve
