Another very hard to find release on the America label but well worth the wait.
This is jazz but perhaps not as you have heard it before ...
Alan Shorter was a avant-garde/free jazz composer and musician, particularly trumpet & flugelhorn.
Avant-garde jazz was created by jazz musicians who were growing tiresome of the "standard" jazz formats - listen to this album and you will hear nothing that is standard!!! In fact if you are not ready for it, it messes up your mind!
Also appearing on this album:
Johnny Dvani - Bass, Flute, Piano & Bells
Rene Augustus - Drums, Bells
Gary Windo - Tenor Sax
Studio recording (Paris) from 1970
Al Shorter - Tes Esat
America Records
Cat# 30 AM 6118
Matrix/Run Out codes (etched) MU. 6118 A HP, MU 6118 B HP
1971
French ORIGINAL release - this is not a repress or reissue
Cover is in very good condition, no writing, no tears, no seam splits and all edges show very light handling wear. If I was being super critical, the front top left corner has a very small lifting of the laminate (giving the glossy appearance) and on the front, the black background shows very light "rubbing" from storage.
New plastic inner sleeve is supplied
Vinyl is in very good - excellent condition, inspected under a white halogen light source and I cannot see any marks or scratches on each side at all. But a visual inspection just doesn't cut it, so I then played both sides of this album entirely and there are no issues with surface noise or clicks/pops - very very nice (if somewhat strange) play and the music takes you to a different experience in "traditional" jazz absolutely.
Supplied in new outer protective plastic sleeve
Tracks: Disposition Part One (20 minutes duration!), Disposition Part Two, Beast Of Bash, One Million Squared
I hunted around online for something that you could listen to from this album but it is not easy! Here is a video/audio clip of Alan Shorter, "Parabola"
