Clamshell is in very good condition, this is a sealed clamshell so there is no chance of getting inside and properly re-lubricating (if this ever became necessary) - attempting to open a plastic welded clamshell will likely destroy it.
Clamshell is clear. Clamshell has been thoroughly cleaned and there is no writing.
Clamshell label is a paper type.
There is no writing on the card insert or the clamshell
Card outer cover is in good condition (not damaged)
Test cassette machine: Nakamichi DR8
Prior to testing, tape was repacked (FF - RW - FF - RW) to ensure even tape loading. This is vital for cassette tapes that have been unplayed for considerable periods of time.
Tape media is in very good visual condition.
Guides/rollers and front pressure pad all look to be fine.
The only real way to judge the condition of magnetic tape media is to actually play it, so I have played both sides of this tape ENTIRELY.
Audio is full range and bright all of the time, plenty of high end and lows. No drop outs. No tape sticking or other transport issues which could indicate dried out lubricant.
Tracks: You Were There, Wildest Love (same program both sides of the tape)
A cassette must be played on a decent cassette playback machine for the listener to achieve the best possible audio result (a pro machine such as a Studer or Tascam or a Nakamichi - throw away your dodgy Sanyo!) this cassette sounds damn fine on the DR8
