The Stone Roses - Self Titled
Silvertone Records
Cat# ORE C 502
1989
Australasian release
Clamshell is in very good condition, this is a sealed clamshell (no screws) so there is no chance of properly re-lubricating if this ever became necessary. Card insert is in good condition with light crinkling to the short edge (incorrect tape insertion)
Test cassette machine: Nakamichi DR8
Prior to testing, tape was repacked (FF - RW - FF - RW) to ensure even tape loading. This is vital for cassette tapes that have been unplayed for considerable periods of time.
Tape media is in very good visual condition, but I have found issues - see further down in my description. The only real way to judge the condition of magnetic tape media is to actually play it, so I have played both sides of this tape.
MOST OF THE TIME audio is full range and bright, plenty of high end and lows. No drop outs. No tape sticking or other transport issues which could indicate dried out lubricant. Head pad is in place and secure.
I heard some distortion while playing the tape and when I looked closer at the tape I can see it has been physically damaged in the past - just one short length is "crinkled" so the movement across the head is not even, producing distortion in the audio. This cannot be repaired.
The ONLY affected track is: Side B This Is The One - approximately the last 40 seconds of this song have this distortion. Still playable but you can hear the "noise"
NO OTHER TRACK IS AFFECTED (EVEN ON SIDE A)
Tracks: I Wanna Be Adored, She Bangs The Drums, Waterfall, Don't Stop, Bye Bye Badman, Elizabeth My Dear, Song For My Sugar Spun Sister, Made Of Stone, Shoot You Down, This Is The One, I Am The Resurrection
