JAMES BROWN - Live In Concert
Double Play
Cat# MC GRF 047
UK release
1990's - nowhere does the packaging (or cassettes) indicate the year of release and a look up of the label catalogue numbers near this release doesn't help either but I suspect it is an early ~ mid 1990's product release
Clear cassette packaging is in good condition, some scuff marks to the clear front section but no cracking. Front cover insert is in very good condition, clean and with no writing or markings. The front insert rear cut-outs are part of the original design, not added later.
Inspected the front pressure pad and side rollers, they are all fine. This is a plastic welded clamshell so if something ever went awry with the tape inside e.g in need of relube or other maintenance, then you will not be able to get "inside" the clamshell, most likely you would end up destroying the tape!
Test machine, my Nakamichi 480
Before playing, I have repacked the tape (complete FF & RW cycles a couple of times), and then played both sides ENTIRELY - there are no issues with the shell or tape at all, audio is full range with no "drop outs" if I was to make any comment though, I 'felt" the high ends were a little lacking or was it just the live recordings - I am pretty sure this was budget label release
This is a really nice playback and gives the listener a taste of how it would have been to see James Brown live, a very energetic performer - non-stop!
