An Australian classic
Due to the fact this cassette tape is almost 40 years old, I have described it's condition in some detail below
AC/DC - Highway To Hell
Albert Productions
Cat# TC-APLP-040
1979 FIRST RELEASE OFF THE PANCAKE! This is not a reissue
Australian release
Clamshell is in very good condition, this is a sealed clamshell so there is a no chance of properly re-lubricating if this ever became necessary (ever tried opening a clamshell with plastic welding? don't waste your time!)
Clamshell is cream colour and quite clean but it does have a previous owners initials on SIDE ONE ONLY sides (black permanent marker, non-removeable)
All text is blue print
Card insert is in good condition (not damaged) although it does have initials printed on the spine of the cover, this has been partially removed but it is still visible.
Case is in very good condition, clean and clear with one small corner crack showing on the front right lower side.
Test cassette machine: Nakamichi DR8
Prior to testing, tape was repacked (FF - RW - FF - RW) to ensure even tape loading. This is vital for cassette tapes that have been unplayed for considerable periods of time.
Tape media is in very good visual condition.
Guides/rollers and front pressure pad are all in great shape fine.
The only real way to judge the condition of magnetic tape media is to actually play it, so I have played both sides of this tape ENTIRELY (and with the volume cranked up high!).
This is Akka Dakka so up goes the knob to 10!
Audio is full range and bright ALMOST all of the time, plenty of high end and lows. No drop outs. No tape sticking or other transport issues which could indicate dried out lubricant. Just one thing I noticed, the last track on Side One "Beating Around The Bush" the highs momentarily drop off a little (not dramatically) but I could hear the difference. This lasted perhaps a second and then all was good again. Side Two does NOT have this event at all.
Other than this, great sound great music - turn it up loud!
Tracks: Highway To Hell, Girls Got Rhythm, Walk All Over You, Touch Too Much, Beating Around The Bush, Shot Down In Flames, Get It Hot, If You Want Blood (You've Got It), Love Hungry Man, Night Prowler
A cassette must be played on a decent cassette playback machine for the listener to achieve the best possible audio result (a pro machine such as a Studer or Tascam or a Nakamichi - throw away your dodgy Sanyo!) this cassette sounds damn fine on the DR8, my neighbours will vouch for that!
