An Australian classic
Due to the fact this cassette tape is almost 40 years old, I have described it's condition in some detail below
AC/DC - Back In Black
Albert Productions
Cat# TC-APLP-046
1983 reissue of the 1980 original
Australian release
Clamshell is in very good condition, this is a sealed clamshell so there is a no chance of properly re-lubricating if this ever became necessary (ever tried opening a clamshell with plastic welding? don't waste your time!)
Clamshell is white although it now looks a bit grubby. It does have a previous owners initials on BOTH sides.
All text is blue print
Card insert is in good condition (not damaged) although it does have some "rubbed" graphics on the front
Case is in very good condition, clean and clear
Test cassette machine: Nakamichi DR8
Prior to testing, tape was repacked (FF - RW - FF - RW) to ensure even tape loading. This is vital for cassette tapes that have been unplayed for considerable periods of time.
Tape media is in very good visual condition.
Guides/rollers and front pressure pad all look to be fine, although I noticed the pressure pad is not aligned properly (off on a slight angle) but it seems to be fixed firmly so I have left it alone.
The only real way to judge the condition of magnetic tape media is to actually play it, so I have played both sides of this tape.
This is Akka Dakka so up goes the knob to 10! The hell with the neighbours.
Audio is full range and bright most of the time, plenty of high end and lows. No drop outs. No tape sticking or other transport issues which could indicate dried out lubricant. Great sound great music - turn it up loud!
I will say more than just bright and full range - this tape punches! The highs are clean and the lows (kick for example) is just unreal.
On Side A: The Lemon Song - I heard some drop off of the highs at times, examining the tape showed up nothing - just a bit muffled at times during this track
I had no other issues listening to the remaining tracks on either side
Tracks: Hell's Bells, Shoot To Kill, What Do You Do For Money Honey, Giving The Dog A Bone, Let Me Put My Love Into You, Back To Black, You Shook Me All Night Long, Have A Drink On Me, Shake A Leg, Rock N' Roll Ain't Noise Pollution
A cassette must be played on a decent cassette playback machine for the listener to achieve the best possible audio result (a pro machine such as a Studer or Tascam or a Nakamichi - throw away your dodgy Sanyo!) this cassette sounds damn fine on the DR8, my neighbours will vouch for that!
