Oh Dear! This item has been sold but take a look around for other similar items

NEEDS PHYSICAL REPAIR

ELECTRONICS/OPTICS FULLY FUNCTIONING (including the 250W lamp)

Please read the FULL description below, I give lots of detail for a reason - so you can determine with a fair degree of certainty whether this equipment is of use to you.

PURE RELIABILITY - Colour Lighting Effects Equipment

Made in China

Company has been in business since around 1984 and major lighting supplier to Beijing Olympics 2008

Look HERE for more information and possibly product support although this is old equipment

Intended environment: Stage or small club

Model: PR2021H MANTIS

Normal 240V AC power input (male socket)

You will need a stock standard IEC power lead to power this unit up (most people have plenty of these lying around, they breed like flies!)

Technology: Quartz Halogen lamp (250W) with colour wheel

DMX Control (through connectors for Master or Slave operation)

In-built microphone to enhance operation in line with ambient sound

8 Combined color and gobo patterns plus clear and blackout

Gobo/color wheel may be scrolled

 Electronic lamp dimming and blackout

Variable speed mirror rotation

Projection angle: 50º

Compact but HEAVY (The rear carry handles give a clue!)

Dimensions: 390mm x 230mm x 180mm height

Weight: 9.5Kg (including the support bracket)

EQUIPMENT SUPPLIED (As pictured)

PR2021H Main Unit

Front head

2x faceted mirrors (one obviously broken, the other in good condition) which attach to the front head with a single screw (supplied) I have included the broken mirror because it is not difficult to fit new mirrored segments onto the metal disc. These are metal discs, not plastic.

Sturdy (metal) mounting arm with finger operated nuts for fixing in position

COSMETIC CONDITION:

Fair wear and tear to the PR2021H but no case damage EXCEPT at the front! The equipment was not stored properly and had a 'head first' fall (short distance) which broke apart the front head support arm from the front of the case - nasty!

Lens, colour wheels and internally the unit is clean

TESTING:

The purpose in offering this lighting equipment is hopefully someone is looking for a nice old retro colour spot OR a possible candidate as a 'component/lens/lamp' farm - some very useful parts inside this unit.

Let me make it clear, ELECTRONICALLY and OPTICALLY there are no issues with this equipment (see below and the photographs) - the issue is the front end case damage (dark blue section)

While it may be possible to make repairs to the damage, it is really best if a replacement front end case can be fitted (another old non-working PR2021H for example)

Only the dark blue front end casing needs replacing, the arm of which supports the rotating mirror is NOT damaged.

The main unit case is substantially high impact plastic, with a bit of metal here and there - the high impact plastic obviously wasn't 'high impact resistant' enough!

6x Philips head bolts support the front casing and rear casing - getting these parts off is very easy.

ELECTRONIC & OPTICAL TESTING:

First I set the rear DIP switch to a 'self test' option and powered up the equipment.

Rotating mirror on the 'stalk' at the front rotates fine (backwards and forwards)

Internal fan (Panasonic) runs fine

After a second or so the high powered 250W Quartz Halogen lamp lights up

The colour wheel(s) patterns rotate to each pattern in sequence, forwards and then in reverse

I have tried to take some photographs of the patterns (in daylight conditions) and they are included in this description, all light projected is coloured except one which is plain white/no pattern.

I can focus the light display easily with the front lens adjustment - my test projection distance was around 20 feet, I couldn't really muster much more distance than this in the house.

For those who are interested in rejuvenating this 'old girl', a couple of nice parts jumped out for 'component farming' - the AC stepdown transformer, a stepper motor, the halogen lamp, optical components such as the lens and colour wheel(s) and possibly some ic's off the rear control electronics (all ic's are in sockets, not soldered direct to the PCB)

AC Transformer:

240V 50Hz input

12.5V x2 @ 15VA each winding

Stepper motor type: 17HS0504

Panasonic fan type FBA09A12H

Lamp 24V 250W (appears to be generic, the original specification is an OSRAM EHU 24/250 300 Hours)

74HC series logic chips

Toshiba TD6203 7 Channel Darlington sink driver

And many more ...

Fantastic for a great 1970's ~ 1980's retro party!!

In my opinion, the only retro lighting that beats this one is the 'Oil Wheel' effects, now that is real Hippie visual effects

Non returnable unless found to be not as described
