Old but never actually used
Once upon a time we envisaged a pair of these arches being of use to us .... it was not to be, they have just sat in the shed for years so it is time to find a new home for them
HISTORY:
We bought this arch (we have two available) for either my wife's catering/party supply business or in our own garden.
The project never "got off the ground" so it is now time to see
if someone else can make use of this arch
GARDEN OR SPECIAL OCCASION ARCH
All metal (steel) with no PVC (which would degrade in sunlight and crack/look unsightly)
Very unusual and quite different from the "normal" arches in that the supports/top of the arch are all in a round shape. This gives the arch considerable strength
and plenty of scope for flower decorations if that was to be it's use.
DIMENSIONS:
In the centre of the arch, it measures 2100mm from the ground to the underneath of the arch centre
Width of the arch (inside) is exactly 1000mm
Diameter of the supports and the arch itself is 230mm
The arch is presently painted with a brown metal protection paint - no top coating of any kind has been applied.
Suitable for outdoor use as it is or "pretty it up" with a few coats of an exterior paint
The photographs are not the greatest, this arch is LARGE and difficult to have standing up by itself (no base as mentioned further down in this description)
so the photographs are of the arch in it's unassembled form, up against one of our large gum trees.
All bolts for assembly will be provided
CONSTRUCTION:
The main frame is all constructed of 6mm round steel
There is decorative pieces woven around the main frame, including leaves
The top arch is secured to the supports by 4x bolts on each side
The arch is also joined in the centre with 4x bolts
The TOTAL weight of the arch is 10Kg
So this means that the whole arch "breaks down" to 4 pieces - I can "just" fit the tallest piece within our car (to give an idea of how long the supports are)
NOTES:
This is important! The base of the supports do not have (and have never had) any stabilising base/support plate etc - that is up to the new owner to sort out.
For special occasion use (such as hiring) it would not be hard to make a square (heavy) base and use U clips to hold the arch in place OR if being used in the garden,
concrete straight into the ground.
CONDITION:
Very clean and straight - all welding is sound
Current paintwork is in good condition - not flaking!
This very nice (and unique) arch is looking for a new owner who will ACTUALLY use it! This style with the round supports/arch are very difficult to find - much more common is the very ordinary straight up and over style of arch - these tend to be quite weak and if subject to too much weight, will simply collapse.
This arch is built to last but it is very important to make sure the base is sorted out so that it is not a safety hazard to anyone.
