TESTING:
History: this ATX power supply was kept as a backup in case one of our DAW's fell over due to power issues. We ran an audio post production facility and reliable DAW's were an absolute must.
This power supply was pressed into service for around just one week until the correct replacement power supply arrived and was fitted - this power supply was ONLY for service backup purposes and not in everyday use. Once the DAW had been repaired, this power supply went back out to the workshop ready to be used in an emergency again.
I fired up the power supply, its been sitting in the workshop for a long time!
No issues on startup, fan rotates at both speeds and the blue leds all light up
Fan noise is not an issue - quiet running
I then checked ALL of the voltages at both the motherboard connector and the AUX connectors, all are within tolerances. Those expected tolerances were:
+12V ±5% (±0.60 V)
−12V ±10% (±1.20 V)
+3.3V ±5% (±0.165 V)
+5V standby ±5% (±0.25 V)
Testing was made with the power supply isolated i.e NOT connected to a motherboard (no ATX boards left around here) so all rails are under no-load conditions.
Overall, I am happy that this power supply is functioning as designed.
Super Flower has a reasonable reputation, some loved them and others hated them - they were a mid range priced power supply at the time. I don't know what their long term reliability is like but for short term use, such as we used this for, they do the job.
