HISTORY:
My "world" is 'the arts' and more specifically, music, artwork and hand crafted/decorated chinaware's.
I am not a film enthusiast but an associate has asked me to find new owners for THEIR large collection of photographic and film items ... this is one of those items.
While the world of 8mm/Super 8mm is not my area of expertise, I am doing my best to establish the condition of each item that I am listing.
I tend to be quite detailed in my item descriptions, please READ all the details to decide if this item may interest you.
Now, on with the description ...
I am offering two 400 feet reels from Walton, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, part one and part two, SEPARATELY.
They do not appear to have been released at the same time and have different catalogue numbers ... my associate did tell me that part two is actually quite hard to find and there may even be a part 3 amongst all these boxes of film but I have not found it yet.
If you are a Pythonese fan, love the dark, absurd humour of the Python team then you will know this film very well ...
WALTON - Super 8 Film
Commercial release for the Home Movie market
MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL (1975)
This motion picture remains a classic, a cult following, with many well known skits such as the Killer Rabbit
Each reel of film relates to the motion picture part 1 or part 2
Part 1 (Pale Blue front cover) Catalogue A912
Part 2 (Pale Green front cover) Catalogue A927
Both reels are housed in a thick clear perspex case (top fitting lid) with a Green base plastic
Motion picture released 1975
Leader film fitted to both reels
7" 400' Black Grasso (Italy) plastic reels
Colour
Sound
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
CLEAN
Film stock and the reel in each part is undamaged
The clear perspex plastic case top section does have quite a few scuff/scratch marks from handling & storage over the years.
NO damage to the case i.e no cracks or broken pieces
Slight, low level "vinegar smell" from the film, which I am informed is normal for aged film although not desirable.
NO personal names or other writing on the case or the film reels
TESTING:
Tested with the ELMO ST 1200 I have available, and away we go ....
I have around 8 minutes off the reel for testing
Leader film is fine and undamaged for both reels
Part 1:
The colour is pretty good on this reel, I can actually see Blues!
Sound seemed a little dodgy to begin with but became "normal" as the film progressed
Part 2:
This reel is NOT the same re colouring or sound as Part 1. This reel of film does show "Red shift" but still very watchable.
I felt that the sound was just a bit muffled, the crispness of full audio with high ends was missing. Still listenable but just not sounding quite right.
I am very fastidious and careful with these Super 8 films and I have now packed the film package within sealed, clear plastic while it awaits a new owner
