HISTORY:
The history of this Hi8 cleaning tape is important! Cleaning tapes have a defined lifetime and if used frequently, should be changed due to contaminant build up on the cleaning tape.
This is a "dry cleaning" system, meaning no liquids are used. The tape "gently" passes through the transport and past the helical scan drum and is intended to remove any dirt and gunk that may be causing your noisy (snowy or lines on the recorded video). If, after a couple of cleans the video noise problem has not disappeared then unfortunately it probably means that your camera has more serious issues that a cleaning tape will not remedy.
We were an audio production facility but had a few pro (SONY V5000) and various domestic Hi8 camera's as 8mm was a format we were looking at in one point of time for the purpose of making transfers from 8mm (and other formats) onto DVD.
We used this cleaning tape perhaps 3 or 4 times only, there is still PLENTY of life left in it.
HINT: It is always a good idea to record "somewhere" how many times you have passed any cleaning tape through your equipment so that you have an accurate idea of the useage.
