Designed as a temperature measurement instrument, specifically for oral or rectal use by the medical profession.

That said, I would NOT suggest that this probe be used for that purpose unless the user has professional medical training. this instrument is offered on the basis of it being "repurposed" such as I did in the field of electronics.

This is one of the myriad of strange instruments that I have kept on hand "just in case" it came in handy for a particular situation...although its usefulness in electronics is limited by the design measurement range, see details below...

Temperature Probe

Model: F-1500

Measures temperature in the range 29.4 ~ 43.4 Celsius ONLY

Remove the two screws at the rear and you can switch the readings to Fahrenheit instead of Celsius

Lightweight and easy to use

Removable test probe, on an expandable "curly cord"

Test probe is 100mm long - tip has the active measuring element

Easy to read (in normal room lighting conditions) LCD display

Shoulder carry strap included

The empty compartment at the rear would normally hold the spare tip covers, required for medical examination purposes only.

COSMETIC CONDITION:

Slight "creaminess" to the case colouring due to normal ageing and cleaning

NO damage to the LCD screen

NO damage to the high impact plastic case

Not supplied with any probe covers - for my purposes I didn't need them.

TESTING:

This temperature probe is no youngster, being quite an old instrument but it came in handy (in electronics) from time to time. The long reach probe allows you to read temperatures of components that are difficult to "get to".

First, because it has been put away for quite a while, I checked the internal Lithium battery cells (non-rechargeable) - the reading is 6V, which is exactly as it should be.

I then did some spot checks around the mainboard of some equipment here, if you try to measure the temperature of a running CPU then it is likely the readout will quickly go up to 43.8 and just sit there. It does not indicate over-range or under-range, it just doesn't read any higher. CPU's can run much hotter than this so it is unlikely to be of much use for checking the temperature of "hot chips" but it does give good information about the running temperature of hard drives, discrete components - especially when it is suspected the component is passing to much current and is starting to act like a heater!

Note that the LCD display does not have a back-light, so it is useful only when being used in normal ambient.

Operation is dead easy....take out the probe, this turns on the temperature probe. Wait a couple of seconds and then the display will flash and then starts reading the temperature of the item at the probe tip. Once the temperature reaches equilibrium, this is taken as the maximum temperature and the unit will beep.

That's pretty much it, no buttons to push etc...

When the temperature probe is not in use, replace into the holder - this will save the unit sucking all the life out of the Lithium batteries (works like an on-off switch)

Rohde & Schwarz Video Noise Meter Model UPSF2 (digital display unlike the UPSF which is analog meters only)

UPSF2 E2 Module Main Frame & Front Panel ONLY

The UPSF 2 is specifically designed for the measurement of spurious modulation from the television transmitter (see the block diagram providing a typical setup)

The purpose of the E2 module is for the measurement of video level & chromatic signal noise

Rohde & Schwarz

UPSF 2 E2 Module Front Panel and Main Frame

Complete and working prior to removal from the main unit. This module sits to the right of the main instrument and is designed as a plug in module, communicating with the "outside world" via a single male connector at the rear.

Modular design (plug in cards) which are accessed by removing the slide-out instruction sheet accessible from the front panel.

No cards will be installed (they are available separately)

There is a passive instruction card - slides out on the left-hand side of the module. This card has (screen printed onto aluminium) a listing of numerical codes and their function, it WILL be included with the this front panel/main frame module.

The "cage" of the mainframe is silver-plated

COSMETIC CONDITION:

The complete E2 mainframe is in very good condition.

The front panel is clean and all button legends are clear and clean

One small mark on the front panel to the right of the 100Khz highpass button

Locking hardware is supplied

TESTING:

Removed from service some time ago due to the move from analog television transmission to digital. Fully functioning prior to removal from service.

Testing performed as outlined in the description. Used item, non returnable
