HISTORY:
At the beginning of my career in electronics, many moons ago, I worked in the telephony industry in NZ. After a few years in the tech side (Fault Control Centre & Exchange techie) I could see the rapid advancement of technology would mean the end of my job as I knew it and left that industry.
However the flame has always burned for all things relating to telephones, both at the subscriber, exchange and all things in between (even cable loading coils!) So whenever I crossed paths with some telephone equipment, I 'collected' it.
The last few years have been cleanup time with a LOT of the gear finding new owners and now I am approaching the end of my telephone gear collection but I still find some 'dribs n drabs' of equipment - this spare part from the T200 instrument is one of those items.
Before it underwent 'the operation' on the workshop bench, this was part of a T200 slim line subscriber telephone instrument. You won't find many of these handset curly cords because the T200 handset was NOT designed to be opened up! Usually you will end up with bits of plastic all over the place = end of handset.
I dug into a T200 handset because I wanted the receiver and transmitter capsules, in the process I salvaged this curly cord.
While it is unlikely to be useful with another T200 (due to it being a sealed unit), it could be adapted to other telephones requiring a replacement handset curly cord.
TELECOM (AUSTRALIA) - Subscriber Telephone Component
Removed from what a T200 subscriber instrument
4 conductor
Component: Curly cord (for the handset)
Colour: Brown
Retainer clip (where the cord exits the handset) is intact and in good condition
All wires are undamaged, as are the 4x spade connectors and the RJ11 plug
Curly cord is clean
Curly cord is unstressed (a nice way to be!) and has no kinks or damage to the outer sheath
I have now placed this curly cord for a telephone instrument handset into a sealed clear plastic packet, waiting to bring another telephone back to life!
