Stored in a Philips box but this is a new (70 year old stock) GE 5632 complete with the original wadding to protect it.
General Electric Valve Tube
5632
Thyratron - xeon gas filled
High power switch which was often used in radar systems and scientific research back in the 1950's
High current and very fast acting
Absolutely useless for linear applications (amplification of audio signals)
If not used for pure switching (like a relay), it was commonly used to generate sawtooth waveforms, typically in radar systems.
Maximum anode voltage of around 900V @ 2.5A average or 30A maximum
2.5V filament
SAFETY NOTE: These tubes contain Xeon gas and Mercury (Hg) the latter is especially hazardous to humans - if the glass envelope is broken BEWARE, handle and dispose of responsibly and with caution, DO NOT touch the Mercury.
