Ex workshop spare parts and small manufacturing stock
ALL devices offered have been sourced through reputable local distributors such as RS Electronics, Farnell, WES and Rockby (Victoria) NOT direct import Chinese (often dodgy specification or even fake) devices
CAUTIONARY NOTES:
Yes, fakes! SANKEN high power (higher value) transistors in particular were a target for mostly Chinese manufacturers looking to make a quick buck with product that nowhere near meets the original specifications.
There are subtle differences externally and it can be challenging to determine if what is in your hand is genuine or a fake.
Very quick guideline ...
The manufacturing batch code in genuine product is always 'centred'
The print on the front is slightly thicker and slightly smaller than a fake (hard to judge when you don't have a fake for comparison!)
The rear metal heatsink should be a slight frosty finish, not mirror like shiny!
Some make their judgement based on weight but very accurate low weight scales is something you don't tend to carry around with you! The die on genuine product is much larger than that used in fakes, thus the weight difference of around 3 grams!
Genuine devices will have a measured weight of 18g (or very close to this)
Of course you can "open it up" but then you have destroyed your expensive transistor!
We ONLY EVER purchased our stock from reputable local suppliers, those who's reputation relies on providing genuine product and of course, our clients expected/demanded that only verifiable genuine product was being used.
NEVER be tempted by "damn that's a cheap transistor" from China in particular, you will get "burned" - they are cheap for a reason, they are rubbish!
These devices were used by our manufacturing production, we NEVER used cheap rip-off devices - sort of defeats the purpose of producing high quality professional equipment and using el-cheapo rubbish in the outputs! It would be a stupid business decision.
Yes, these devices I am offering are amazingly low cost, why? I have now retired (almost 70), EVERYTHING is being found new owners and my primary interest is recovering a little of the costs but my main thrust is to prevent these being "dumped" when I depart this planet!

Transistor markings: 2SA1494 (S stylised Sanken logo) 83Y
Device is marked exactly as it should be regarding lettering, centred text and the rear "look" of the heatsink.
Device weight is EXACTLY 18 grammes
NOTE: Measured on my scales which have 1g increments. These are NOT 17g nor are they 19g, they measure exactly 18g. I mention this because some "numb nut" contacted me and said they should be 18.24g - geez, give me a break! Any doubts about the authenticity of these transistors, I really don't mind if you go elsewhere - I do not suffer fools well!
