OLD Ex workshop spare parts and small manufacturing stock
These are some of my very old semiconductors, unused and stored on styro sheeting to protect the legs (not ESD sensitive)
With these old devices (because I like to be sure and others have asked me for some basic testing to be done) I have grabbed a very basic transistor tester and the screen result is showing along with the device. The hFE measurement (DC current gain) has been printed onto the device casing, this is only a rough guide as the hFE will change depending upon temperature and Vce conditions.
This is a pretty "motley" bunch of Silicon power transistors, because they have suffered Aluminium oxidisation and the lettering on the top has all but disappeared. On one device I can partially read the type number but I cannot remember if these were all the same type! I do know they are all Silicon and NPN types, and after testing, the hFE for each device but I am not about to sit down and plot the characteristic curves for these so consider this lot of four transistors (which I believe are all of the same type) as a "lucky dip" as to the type number.
TOSHIBA - Power Transistor
How can I say Toshiba? Each device has remanents of the distinct Red colouring used by Toshiba. It is the part number that is difficult or impossible to decipher!
Type: 2Sx6x3A (the x indicates the characters I cannot "make out")
Based on these being Toshiba manufacture, they are NOT 2SA prefix as those are PNP, they are also NOT 2SB as they are not TO-3 and I am left with my best guess, 2SC and I am pretty sure, but not 100%, that these are in fact 2SC643A devices
Silicon
NPN
Tested hFE's: 6,12,12,24
Full part # on package 2Sx6x3A (Red manufacturers logo which I am 95% sure is TOSHIBA)
TO-03 Aluminium case
BRAND NEW Very Old Stock
Oxidisation to the casing and legs but the legs in particular will easily clean up for soldering
