I hear you! A relay? What The?
Relays were a nice clean solution back in the day and often found in older equipment, both professional and consumer grade (remember that little click when you turn on the amplifier at home? That's the loudspeaker protection relay kicking in.
Now this particular relay is often still used in industrial equipment and normally "slots into" a special socket on a PCB or it can be directly soldered to the board. Sockets are still readily available, for example Digikey has them HERE but at that cost, it adds a fair bit to the component cost!
