BACKGROUND:
Ex workshop "pulls" from some old test equipment, Allen Bradley being a manufacturer with an enviable reputation for very high quality products.
Allen & Bradley (A.B) - Rotary Potentiometer
Type: JA1NO52P5003AA
Decoding this part number, it means this is a single gang, with lug, plain shaft (9.52mm), shaft length 22.2mm from the mounting surface, plain round shaft, resistance value 5003 (50K), Clockwise modified rotation LOG, standard nut
Type J refers to the potentiometer manufacture, hot moulded
Value: 50K Type J
20% tolerance
LOG Taper
300 degree rotation
Panel mounting (supplied with nut)
Solder tag terminations
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Clean and undamaged physically
Solder tags have been cleaned nicely
TESTING:
Being OLD potentiometers, they should be checked.
I have two of these and have measured the DC resistance of the track and smooth operation and variation in resistance as the wiper travels the track
#1 Track measures 63K
#2 Track measures 59K
In both cases the wiper travel produced a smooth even change (but not linear as this is a log taper) in resistance with no "dead spots" observed
To maintain the condition of these potentiometers, each is now sealed in clear plastic packets
