Oh Dear! This item has been sold but take a look around for other similar items

I cannot remember (and unfortunately did not record details of) the equipment this motor was removed from!

I 'suspect' it may have been an old 4 track machine used in the music industry yonks ago but I am not 100% about that.

Great little motor which is NOT the same as your stock standard DC motor in that it has some electronics inside the casing for rotational speed control primarily.

Here is a 10 minute video that shows what is inside these MABUCHI motors

MABUCHI - DC Motor

Model: EG-500AD-2B

2400rpm

12V polarised DC input

Designed for Counter Clockwise Rotation

DC direct shaft rotation, NO gearhead

DIMENSIONS:

Body - 32mm diameter x 20.5mm height

Central shaft - 2mm diameter shaft, length 12.5mm

Top of the shaft has a plastic pulley fitted

Plastic (Black) Pulley - 5mm height x 7mm diameter (appears to be press fit as I can see no screws or other means of securing the pulley to the shaft)

Motor top body has 5x top mounting threaded holes for mounting bolts with the holes spaced 21mm apart around the rim

NO MOUNTING BOLTS ARE SUPPLIED

2 pin connector (Molex style) on the rear side of the motor body for connection to the outside world. It is clearly marked which pin is positive.

COSMETIC CONDITION:

Clean and undamaged in any way

NOTE: The mounting bolts (very small) are NOT supplied, I would assume the new owner already has these from the machine or equipment they are servicing.

TESTING:

This is not just a raw DC motor but has a small PCB inside which controls the rotational speed and allows for a 'smoother' rotation, which is critical when used in applications such as cassette decks.

Because of this board inside, it is not possible to make a simple DC windings test - it won't work (you will get readings showing very high resistance which may falsely give the impression the windings have an issue)

The only thing to do is to power it up, which I did with a 12V DC power source, rapidly spins up and runs quietly, at I guess 2400rpm - the design speed for this motor.

I cannot measure the rpm but it spins fine and fast, something like you would expect from a cassette deck main drive motor.

Torque has not been measured but there is plenty of it!
