HISTORY:
Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.
Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.
If you would like to know more about Ee values, please take a look HERE
This electronic module is brand new, old stock.
I am not even sure why we had this item in our workshop stock! Our business was the world of pro audio but these industrial proximity switches can often be found in process control equipment.
The idea behind these switches is to provide "electronic" replacement of a mechanical limit switch systems
As this is brand new (but old stock) equipment spare part, I am offering 100% warranty with this product - any issues and a full refund is offered.
GO SWITCH - Proximity Limit Switch
Manufactured by General Equipment & Manufacturing Company USA which seem to be closely connected with Top Worx/Emerson
Purchased through Mayer Krieg & Co (QLD) in Australia
Model: 111312
Australian addition to the part number (printed on the outer box)
AUS Ex109
Exs
T6
Decyphering the part number system, this proximity switch has these characteristics
From left to right
1 - dimensions (109mm long x 37mm x 37mm)
1 - Single Pole Double Throw action
3 - Standard sensing range 10mm
1 - Standard enclosure
The box and module clearly indicate this is an 'Australian market' model - not a 'grey market' product
Designed to switch a maximum of 500W or approximately 2A @ 240V AC
Comes with 4 page installation guide and description of the switch theory of operation
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Clean
BRAND NEW Old Stock
NOTES ON OPERATIONAL THEORY
Inside this quite heavy (600g) 'block' are permanent magnets and a see-saw armature with gold flashed electrical contacts. When a ferrous 'target' is detected, the magnetic field inside the unit changes and 'flips' the switch, which in this device is a single pole double throw type. The armature/switch contacts are within a sealed chamber to prevent moisture or dirt contaminating the contacts.
The switch can be mounted in any position and the 'sensing area' is clearly indicated on the device.
The body has NO mounting holes other than the wire entry point. This entry point has a large hole which is 18mm diameter/threaded and it does appear to be a brass alloy (yellowish colour metal)
A pretty sparse description but basically this is a magnetic switch to replace a mechanical switch and there is no requirement to supply an external power source.
Simple design concept to provide long term RELIABLE switching based on the proximity of ferrous objects.
TESTING:
The module is new but as I had opened the packaging for the photographs, I took the opportunity to test it.
Switch contacts show extremely low resistance (closed) and for all practical terms, infinity when the contacts are open (limited by my test equipment)
Using a ferrous bar, I moved the target or actuator across the sensing 'window' and the switch operates (as shown by the test equipment because you cannot hear the switch operation at all)
I then repacked the switch and it is now in sealed clear plastic to maintain the condition, ready for shipping.
This sensor is being offered at a very low price purely because we have no use for it, it is NEW (Old Stock) and ready for service!
