UNRECOGNISED MANUFACTURER - Panel Meter

Made in Japan

Manufacturer is unknown - the symbol or logo looks a little like a K with the vertical line of the K looking like a triangle which has been rotated on its side through 90 degrees clockwise.

Circa 1970's (based on the age of the sacrificial test equipment!)

Series 9509

Type: H 1994A (this code appears to refer to the scale NOT the meter itself)

Stamped on the rear of the movement MADE IN JAPAN

All plastic casing

Very large movement (and heavy)

DIMENSIONS:

Face frame measures 87mm wide x 62mm height x 15mm deep

Display window is 75mm wide x 30mm height

Pointer (black) 28mm long

The movement barrel is very large, measuring 53mm diameter x 31mm deep

Four mounting bolts (with nuts) mount this meter onto a panel

The rear of the movement barrel has two large bolts (with nuts) and a solder lug

Polarity is marked at these terminals

The meter scale comments:

The scale is marked as LEVEL V p-p and is scaled from 0 - 5V and 0-2.7

The current meter scale was made to purpose BUT it can be removed, re-labelled and replaced.

Removal of the front casing is easy (clip on) and this reveals two hex bolts securing the scale in place. Very careful removal of the existing scale, re-labelling and placing back on the face and you are ready to go.

Of course this is a very delicate process as this requires working behind the pointer.

COSMETIC CONDITION:

In excellent condition, as new in fact

No marks or scratches on the clear acrylic display window

There is no parallax mirror fitted

The meter has no built in facility to be backlit

TESTING:

I have established following during testing...

100uA F.S.D

Coil resistance is 1160 Ohm

The movement provides heavy damping, resulting in very smooth movement of the pointer when current passes through the meter

Front mechanical zero adjustment

Fully functional and without any "quirks" - pointer movement is very smooth, this meter has "class"!
