This electronic component is NEW, old stock.
Like a mystery? This is one device that I cannot identify or remember which equipment we kept this spare part on hand for ...
The description below only details what I can read on the can, general description and that's about it .... I cannot locate any information online that makes any sense for this device
NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR - Integrated Circuit
Function is unknown although I have a suspicion this could be an Op Amp device
TO-5 size can with all Gold plated leads
8 leads
Always been in the original semiconductor carrier but this does not appear to be an ESD sensitive device
MARKINGS:
Printed on the side of the can, Black and clearly legible
(NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR LOGO) 7906 ON501152 (this could also be 0N501152)
NOTES: This may be an in-house number or code, we had (and I still have) some special run devices, particularly for HP equipment but this is not one of those.
Your first thought may be, Oh it's a 7906 -6V 3 terminal regulator! I doubt it, why have 8 legs? I don't recall the 79xx series ever being released in an octal can.
COSMETIC CONDITION:
NEW Old Stock
CLEAN
Always stored properly, pretty old stock as I " think" this device has been in the workshop spares section for a LONG time, possibly since the 1990's!
