HISTORY:

Well, here's a mystery from the workshop spare parts drawers & tubes

These were bought in as spare a LONG time ago and I cannot recall what the techs used these for ... it's a 'part tube' so they used some of them!

Perhaps someone will instantly recognise the part numbers, I certainly don't - they could be special manufacture, not sure. I suspect they had something to do with communications control systems from way way back in time, but again ... not sure.

The distinctive feature I noticed with these is that they have additional identification printed by Intel on the UNDERSIDE of the body - it's not often you see that.

All I can figure is the chips were manufactured in the time period late 1980's ~ early 1990's in either Makati or in the early 1990's Intel moved to the special economic zone, Philippines (I think those Intel facilities have closed down now).

Some of the numbers look to be batch codes and the reference to SPEC could be either a special manufacture or specification drawings.

I cannot find any references online to an Intel 2070 or PE8021 device

I saw one person selling a similar device, stating it was an "interface" device - don't believe it, lots of cowboys on places like fleabay - always, always ask for the technical data sheets (they never answer such questions!)

This one is for those who like a mystery (if they do not know what it is already), perhaps "reading out" the data if it is unprotected/not locked. I have a "feeling" that this could be a uP with mask ROM but then again, it could also be as ordinary as static RAM.

A long time ago, we dug up the earth & extracted the oil to manufacture the raw metals & plastics and then put the whole device together ... humans are pretty clever huh?

Not so clever is to then go and bury this device back into the earth again and I am hoping very much that someone can find a purpose (or even just the functionality) for this device
