It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.

This roll of Mu metal is brand new, old stock with just a very small length used.
Mu metal (Nickel–iron soft ferromagnetic material with other elements added such as Chromium and the mix of elements can vary across different Mu metals, creating an alloy with very high permeability. It is very interesting to experiment or use in the design of equipment, particularly low level audio because it can help to shield sensitive electronic equipment against static or low-frequency magnetic fields. It doesn't 'block' unwanted magnetic fields but instead provides a low magnetic reluctance path to undesired magnetic fields, providing an easier path for the magnetic field lines to flow around the shielded area.
There is plenty of online information about the theory and how you can put it into practice through experimentation.
This Mu metal strip has a dull grey/greenish (Chromium?) is soft and easily pliable but when formed into a shape, it maintains that shape easily. No special bending or folding tools are required.
