Ex workshop spare parts and small manufacturing stock
ALL components have been sourced through reputable local distributors such as RS Electronics, Farnell, WES and Rockby (Victoria) or direct from the manufacturer where possible.
I like to "dig up" interesting bits and pieces, this one is in that category.
For the avid R & D, homebrewer's etc .... you have a board and want to sort out the board power distribution without using large, thick copper areas on the PCB - this is where this component comes in really handy.
It is basically a long (you can cut it to whatever length you require) flexible rectangular metal strip to which are attached PCB pins, each pin is set on a pitch of 0.1" or 2.54mm
Use one end (or anywhere actually) as the supply rail "feed" and then you can distribute the power to any point on the PCB "top side" - no more running tiny/short insulated jumpers all over the underside of the board or having to waste PCB real estate for power distribution.
Too many pins on the strip? (and there are a lot of them, over 140 per strip!) just cut away the pins that are not required to feed onto the PCB - a pair of sharp side-cutters will easily cut through this metal.
The busbar is solid (thin) but flexible metal and when bent, it tends to hold the new shape - I believe it is stainless steel but I cannot locate the spec sheets to confirm this.
Micro Power Distribution Busbar
SPECIAL NOTE:
FOR LOW VOLTAGE DISTRIBUTION AROUND PCB's - NOT INTENDED FOR USE WITH HIGHER VOLTAGES SUCH AS 240V AC SUPPLY!
DON'T EVEN THINK OF IT
Conducting material: appears "like" stainless steel"
MEASUREMENTS:
BUSBAR:
7mm height x 0.25mm thick metal
I have just three lengths of this item (see the photograph)
Lengths are: 315mm, 362mm & 382mm
The busbar is completely (including the top) insulated with some sort of polymer. I needed to remove some for my tests and examination of the metal and it is not easy to remove this insulation! It is not just an ordinary plastic coating, that's for sure.
ELECTRICAL:
I was curious about the resistance of this busbar and I measured 0.03 Ohm over the entire length of the longest piece
COSMETIC CONDITION:
NEW
Old Stock
Clean with no oxidisation
NO pins are missing or bent - carefully stored and they will be supplied on stiff card backing, sealed in clear plastic.
I see no real point in making the asking price different for each length so they are set at $1.50 each OR take them all (my preference) and a discount is automatically applied.
