ex Anritsu PDC Signalling Tester model MD1623B
This encoder is not marked anywhere regarding the manufacturer although I strongly suspect it is either a Hirose or Anritsu made product, probably the former.
Dual Optical Encoder
Removed from the front panel control area of the equipment (right hand side, large knob in the photograph)
High quality design and engineering, the whole encoder comes apart which can be handy if it was intended to use the encoder in a custom project (changing the TX/RX LED's for example
Continuous 360 rotation with a positive feel/stop using a ball bearing inside the encoder
Inside the encoder there are two completely separate optical channels, a TX LED & RX LED for each.
Each LED (4 of them) is removeable and will only fit in one direction (impossible to insert the incorrect way round)
Standard 1/4" metal shaft (10mm diameter - no flat)
Designed for PCB mounting but it can easily be used with flying leads
Plastic body of the encoder is 22mm diameter x 12mm height
Two mounting screws 15mm apart (screws supplied)
The central screw releases the top half of the encoder - be EXTREMELY CAREFUL if doing this, the ball bearing inside is extremely small and it would be easy to misplace it!
TESTING:
In perfect working condition, double checked immediately prior to dismantling the Anritsu MD1623B
Supplied in sealed plastic, complete with mounting screws (2)
