HISTORY:
This component has been removed from professional industrial equipment originally manufactured in USA
Especially chosen for salvaging because of the component quality and flexibility ... read on for details
UNIDENTIFIED MANUFACTURER - Panel LED Indicator Lamp
LED indicator technology (not incandescent)
Colour: RED
Nicely engineered all metal body which is designed to fit into a round panel hole and is held in place by a washer and nut.
All metal has been chrome plated
Inside this body is fitted (currently a friction fit) a Black plastic tube designed to hold the LED in place, the front of the LED showing in the centre of the metal body.
This plastic 'tube insert' can be removed and a different LED colour fitted if desired, meaning that although this unit is advertised as RED, there is no reason why the LED cannot be changed to any other colour in the correct size (3mm)
Wiring of the LED is using just the protruding leads from the LED fitted.
Light emitted with the supplied RED LED is intense (see the photograph with one LED lit up, even 'off angle' it is easy to view), clearly visible in both daylight or low ambient light conditions
DIMENSIONS:
Front metal section:
12.4mm length (front to rear of the thread)
14.25mm total length with the Black plastic inserted tube fitted
Diameter hole (circular) for fitting: 5.2mm
Diameter of the front flange 7.5mm (centre hole for the 3mm LED and then bevelled out to 7.5mm making a very nice looking panel mount)
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
Clean
NO metal body damage
NO Black plastic insert damage
ALL LED indicators (I have a few) have had their leads cut, none are ridiculously short and all are relatively clean of solder. Typical lead lengths range from 6.5mm ~ 15mm
TESTING:
Using a DC power source in the range 2 ~ 3V, I checked the supplied LED's for intensity primarily. These LEDS are particularly bright and the RED is a nice 'solid' RED.
Of course you can easily remove the existing LED and fit another colour or intensity, in fact I used a number of these in some audio equipment using a Blue 3mm LED (Nice IMO!)
