HISTORY:
This component has been removed from a very nice (fully functioning) KEPCO BOP 50-8M front panel
DIALCO (USA) - Panel Lamp
LED technology (not incandescent)
Colour: GREEN
Light emitted mimics very closely the old type of panel lamp
Two section: front barrel containing the LED/Diffused Lens and the plug-in rear end
Simple but very effective mounting, spring clip i.e no nuts, screws etc
6V DC operation NOT the usual 1.5V~1.8V for a Green LED (there must be a series resistor inside the sealed barrel)
DIMENSIONS:
Front barrel section:
7mm diameter with a slightly larger flange where it sits within a hole on a panel.
Length is 21mm
This front assembly is completely sealed, you cannot get inside!
Rear female socket with solder tags:
8.5mm Length x 8.75mm diameter (slightly larger than the front section)
2x female sockets to accept the front section 0.9mm rigid pins
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
Clean
NO body damage
NO front bezel damage
NO rear pins or socket damage
Interesting point ... sometimes I had to apply "excessive" heat with the iron when removing the old wiring, although I was trying to limit the amount of heating as much as possible. The interesting thing is that the plastic did NOT melt away at all (unlike el-cheapo Asian product I have come across) so Dialco must have used high temperature plastic for the body.
TESTING:
These lamps require a forward voltage of 6V DC not 1.5V~1.8V for a bare standalone Green LED
Applied 6V to each lamp available and the current drawn is 24mA
Very nice diffused Green lamp of "medium" intensity, these very closely mimic an old incandescent lamp but with much lower current (and therefore far less heat emissions) requirements
The rear socket section is NOT keyed although the sockets are slightly off-center. This means that you can reverse the applied voltage (thus no light) and when the rear is inserted into the front section with the INCORRECT orientation, the rear and front do not align properly, but the LED can still be powered although it will not "light up" due to the reversed polarity - the series resistor will protect the LED but this is something the user needs to be careful of.
