SEMIKRON - High Power Bridge Rectifier
Designed & made in Germany
Known for their high power modules across industries such as Power Generation and Electric Vehicles (both passenger and trucks/buses) e.g Diode assemblies for Wind Turbines handling up to 15MW, makes your standard PSU diodes rated between 1 ~ 10A look pretty puny!
Part: SKD40 /08 A1
All metal construction (looks like diecast) except the top plate which is a black plastic
Screw terminals, two of which indicate the raw DC output and polarity, the remaining three terminals have ~ (AC) next to them, pretty hard to confuse things!
Power Bridge format
Purpose: Bridge Rectifier (Three Phase)
I believe this is a discontinued product as it is not mentioned in SEMIKRON's current catalogue but making some deductions from other Power Bridges in the SKD range, I believe the following would be the case for this device
SKDxx where xx indicates the indicates ID
ID (Diode current 40A)
08 in the part number appears to indicate the Peak Inverse Voltage
PIV 800V
NOTE: It is possible to use this 3 phase bridge with single phase input voltage, just use two of the AC inputs instead of all three. Keep in mind though that the current capability must be derated by 33% as one "leg" of the bridge rectifier is no longer being used - so this 40A capable bridge rectifier gets derated down to around 27A maximum current.
This power bridge is new but the original packaging has been discarded some time ago - it is now sealed in plastic and will be supplied this way
