SIEMENS - IR Emitting Diode

The data below was obtained from an unverified source "on-line" as my Siemens Opto databook only mentions the LD241 series but these LD242's look to be practically identical.

Part # LD242 I

NOTE: The I suffix indicates the radiation intensity - there are 3 grades, these being I II and III

Light Emitted: Infra Red 950nm

Lens: Clear

Size: 4.25mm

TO-18 case

Intensity: 1 ~ 2.0mW

Vf = 1.3V

Half angle 60°

These are excellent for the experimenter wishing to create a source of Infra Red light for communications (can be modulated), create a light beacon which is invisible to the naked human eye or "bath" an area in IR light for security purposes.

Never heard of an IR beacon before? The international robotics competition called Robocup (robots playing soccer autonomously) use a soccer ball that emits IR light which the "players" must find while on the playing field.

DIMENSIONS:

4.25mm diameter (front) or 5.25mm if the rear flange is included x 3.3mm body length

Gold plated copper wire leads (12mm length x 0.38 diameter)

COSMETIC CONDITION:

NEW Old Stock

NO body damage

NOTE: These are distinctive devices as the legs and entire body of the diode is Gold plated

Always stored as originally supplied to us in clear plastic bulk packs but I am supplying in any quantity (the more you get, the less I have and the lower the cost)

This is not an ongoing supply, once my workshop spares are gone .... there will be no more

If the photograph shows multiple diodes, I am offering in the advertisement ONE DIODE ONLY, not all of them for this price!
