HISTORY:
Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.
Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.
If you would like to know more about Ee values, please take a look HERE
This tantalum polarised capacitor is NEW, old (very) workshop stock
UNRECOGNISED MANUFACTURER - Tantalum Electrolytic Capacitor (1)
I do not know this manufacturer, marked on the casing is simply a small oval shape, infilled with the same Silver metallic print as the capacitor value identification printing.
Body material: Black thermoplastic
Printed (in this Silver metallic ink) on one side of the body is:
(small oval shape)
+ 1.0 35V
The remaining sides & top/base are completely unmarked
Looking at the capacitor side on, it actually appears the body is comprised of two halves which have been pressed together.
Capacitor technology: Tantalum, Tantalum Pentoxide and I believe Silver was used in this particular design
These are VERY unusual tantalum capacitors and not very often seen around the "vintage caps" traps - very small physically but not the more common rounded body - these look more like a poly style body. The body is shaped (hard to describe, a bit like a square but with a "knob" at the base and the obvious cut off corner near the positive lead)
The leads are not round but rectangular in shape, appear to be tinned and I presume copper based.
One lead is slightly shorter than the other, I have carefully examined these leads and it appears that is how they left the factory - they have NOT been cut since leaving the manufacturer with no copper showing and the lead ends are perfectly shaped at the ends.
DIMENSIONS:
BODY: 7.2mm Wide x 6.1mm Height x 2.50mm Thick
LEADS: 9.75mm Length (1) & 7.95mm Length (the other)
LEAD wire size: .425mm x .325mm (NOT round)
TESTING:
I have tested EVERY capacitor which resulted in a measured range of values of .986uF to 1.06uF, actually only one measured .986uF while the balance were above 1uF (ever so slightly)
COSMETIC CONDITION:
NEW Old Stock (actually very old)
CLEAN
NO physical damage
Light/slight dullness to the leads due to oxidisation but these remain perfectly serviceable
Now Stored in a sealed plastic packet, awaiting a "purpose in life"
*** Where the photograph shows multiple components, this advertisement price is for ONE capacitor only - not all that are shown! ***
