HISTORY:
Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.
Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.
If you would like to know more about Ee values, please take a look HERE
This Siemens capacitor is NEW, old stock BUT they have had a minor "local" change made to the construction with relation to the "end caps" ...
please see the change details below
We used these in audio equipment production way back in the day, Siemens does not make these any longer - very highly regarded for audio equipment.
Strange name huh? The capacitor is constructed in a vertical stack, some call them cake stakes. The most distinctive feature is the exposed "gun metal grey" end sections onto which the leads are welded.
THE MOD: There was a period when we wanted the end caps to not be bare metal and the production guys wanted to have greater insulation between these capacitor ends and adjacent components, so a "dab" of epoxy was added at each end of the capacitor. No lead cutting, no other changes - just the epoxy was added.
So, to summarise, these are "stock standard" cake stacks but with a dab of epoxy resin added to each end - no other changes!
Siemens, Germany was a manufacturer of very high quality components used in industrial, medical and military equipment, not cheap but damn good! They divested their component production to other companies quite some time ago.
SIEMENS - Metallised Film Capacitor (1)
Made in Germany
Affectionately known as "cake stacks"
Extremely high reliability
Value: 1uF 100V DC
Tolerance: 10%
Termination: Axial/Radial leads, depends how you look at it - the leads are at each end of the cap but formed downwards (for PCB mounting)
Clear/Yellow epoxy "blob" added to each end of the capacitor.
DIMENSIONS: 10.5mm Length x 7.8mm Wide x 7.25mm Height
Tinned wire leads are 4.25mm Length x 0.55mm diameter
TESTING:
Being old stock, I tested each of the available capacitors and the majority (17) read just slightly higher than the nominal value (1008nF ~ 1069nF highest value) and the remaining 4 capacitors measuring just slightly under 1000nF (944nF ~ 917nF) All are within the tolerance band of 10%
COSMETIC CONDITION:
NEW Old Stock
Excellent physical condition
Clean bright legs
Stored in a sealed plastic pack but I am fine with supplying any quantity from just one cap up to the available quantity showing on this page
Keep in mind that these are left over production stock and there will be NO further on-going supply of these after they have all found new workshops.
