HISTORY:
Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.
Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.
If you would like to know more about Ee values, please take a look HERE
This antiquity from AEE is NEW, old (very) workshop stock.
Who was AEE I hear you ask? Another Australian electronic component manufacturer who has faded into the mists of time .... the Victoria based company began in the 1920's and ended up in the early 1970's being absorbed into L.M Ericsson Pty Ltd which then eventually morphed into RIFA by the late 1970's
AEE (Australasian Engineering Equipment) - Polystyrene Capacitor (1)
Made In Australia
Circa mid 1970's
Series: 210 GD
Type: Metal foil
Nominal Value: 3900pF
Voltage: 200V DC
Tolerance: 2% (big question about this though!)
Top of the capacitor has a large G printed, this normally indicates 2% tolerance but I seriously doubt this was ever a precision 2% tolerance capacitor - I would have expected 10 or 20% tolerance range
Temperature range: -40 ~ +85C
Radial leads
Printed on the top of the capacitor (Black) is:
3n9G
Printed on one side is:
200 V-
-40 TO +85C
Printed on the other side is:
FS. AEE
CAP.
PFE 210 GD
Made in Australia
DIMENSIONS:
BODY: 19mm Length x 15.5mm Height x 6.8mm Deep
LEADS: 33mm Length x .75mm Diameter
TESTING:
I have tested BOTH capacitors that I have available, measurements were:
4390pF
4150pF
As can be seen, they are both reading high but I believe WITHIN tolerances because I assume these are 10% tolerance NOT 2%
COSMETIC CONDITION:
NEW Old Stock (actually very old)
CLEAN
NO physical damage
Light/slight dullness to the leads due to oxidisation but these remain perfectly serviceable
Now Stored in a sealed plastic packet, awaiting a "purpose in life"
*** Where the photograph shows multiple capacitors, this advertisement price is for ONE capacitor only - not all that are shown! ***
