HISTORY:
Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.
Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.

This electronic hardware is USED but in perfect working condition
This D Cell battery holder was removed from a piece of professional, portable equipment from UK. This type of battery holder is not very common and yet very flexible in its use and I am hoping someone can give it a new lease of life or repurpose it.

In it's present form it will securely hold 3x D Cells in series BUT the main tube comprises three separate components which can be removed to turn this into a dual D Cell or even single D Cell holder.
The construction is very strong, the outer Black thermo plastic is strong and each section VERY tightly fits into the next section (friction fit)
The connection hardware at each end is also very well engineered and made to last.
Contact areas top & bottom are clean and will provide good electrical contact
The whole assembly can be "broken down" to it's separate components, allowing for flexibility in not only size (number of D cells) but also for contact cleaning.
DIMENSIONS:
Front (where the batteries are inserted) diameter 34.30mm
Square flange (with four mounting holes) is 46.25mm x 46.25mm
Uses a twist and lock system
Length of the "battery tube" is 159mm (3x D Cells)
ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY:
Easy and straightforward but very secure when in place
The end pieces can be inserted into the tube and then orientated using the side slots, next is the strong spring and finally the large solid white end piece which tightly keeps everything in place (friction fit) By adjusting how far into the tube this white end piece (29mm length) is inserted, the amount of tension on the spring can be altered.
MOUNTING NOTES:
Although there are 4x holes at the "front end" of the battery holder, in the previous equipment they used 2x cable ties to both hold the battery holder in position and the + & - wires. Once "filled" with batteries, this tube can be quite heavy so additional support other than the front holes would be a good idea.
Supplied in a sealed plastic packet, ASSEMBLED, but once you understand how it is all put together it is not difficult to take it apart. HINTS: when adjusting/removing a section of the black tubing, a "twist and pull" action works best to separate two sections.
