These toroidal AC stepdown transformers are all ex Australian audio equipment manufacturing, there is nothing wrong with them at all but being ex production, there is a couple of points that should be noted ...
HARDWARE SPECIAL NOTE:
This toroid is a "bare bones" unit, ex commercial equipment production stores.
This means the mounting kit is NOT supplied (metal disc & 2x plastic washers plus bolt/nut)
AND
The central hole through the epoxy resin filled centre has NOT been drilled.
You can easily purchase these torodial transformer mounting items from electronic distributors e.g RS Electronics and they have a range of sizes to choose from. I also see that these are sold on sites such as eBay but the prices are crazy high! Better off dealing direct with the distributor!
SAFETY CAUTION: When mounting toroidal transformers think carefully about what you are doing! Remember that it is important that your transformer be mounted in such a way that the mounting screw and the metal chassis will not form a closed loop through the center and thereby create a shorted turn on the transformer Believe me, this is NOT a good thing to do!
Never heard of Australian designer and manufacturer of inductor based products, Harbuch? (If not, it is then likely that you have been living in a cave!)
Harbuch Electronics is a very respected Australian manufacturer of inductor products i.e audio, video and power transformers - their products were widely used in the local broadcast and audio industry. Well known for their very high quality, high reliability products - particularly in the field of professional audio.
HARBUCH ELECTRONICS (Australia) - Toroidal Transformer
HERE is their website (although it doesn't seem to have been working properly for quite some time now)
Made in Australia
Model: A2414
Primary: 240V AC
Secondary: Dual 18V AC @ 0.42A (15VA) windings
All windings are colour coded, Orange is always the primary and the remaining colours are secondary wires.
The transformer labelling indicates which colours are the appropriate secondary windings
Epoxy filled
NOTE: The epoxy filled centre of the core has NOT yet been drilled through to fit a bolt - that is your mission (Jim)
NO MOUNTING HARDWARE SUPPLIED
This is raw manufacturing stock, almost ready for the assembly line but the mounting kits (metal disc, 2x plastic discs and bolt/nut) are NOT included and a hole needs to be drilled down the centre of the epoxy resin.
With luck the new owner may have some of these discs "around" the workshop or you can purchase them online at RS Electronics and other distributors.
Read up on the correct mounting solutions for toroidal transformers, it is extremely important that you get it right
DIMENSIONS:
62mm diameter x 26mm height
Epoxy potted centre
Primary & secondary flying leads terminated as bare tinned wire
TESTING:
Although brand new, I wanted to check the secondary voltages (both secondary windings) J.I.C (Just In Case)
Tested using the domestic AC supply, nominally 240V AC (actual voltage today was 238V AC - evening peak hour)
Secondary voltage measured at each secondary varied between 20.8 ~ 21.1V each winding under NO LOAD conditions
I have included a printed paper label for each transformer, with my test results indicated.
Fantastic little (low cost) AC stepdown toroid based transformer to supply your 'project' low power dual rail supply.
