The buyer must establish beforehand that this remote suits their own Olympus equipment
How?
Try looking in the user manual, if you have one.
If the manual is not available, try to see if the remote button layout looks "right" compared to your old remote - a bit hit & miss though.
Please be aware that every single remote sends a unique code to the equipment under control, just because you may have an Olympus camera but it does not necessarily mean this remote will control it.
Olympus (Camedia) Camera SPARE PART
USED IR Remote control
Genuine Olympus product NOT a 3rd party copy
Part number: RM-1
This remote has just the most basic of functions (see photograph) and is very small, much like a biscuit really! (do not eat, non-nutrious)
In brief:
Large central button is of course "lets shoot - take the photograph"
W/T is the Wide Angle/Telezoom
+ - Select pictures and use W/T to zoom in & out
CH changes the remote codes so you can make the remote "talk" to your IR controllable Olympus camera
Only do this if the remote doesn't appear to talk to your camera at the "first try"
Aim the RM-1 at the remote window on camera (don't have one? then this isn't going to work, is it?) and press CH AND the the W or T button at the SAME time until the selftimer/remote control signal blinks or the camera emits a beep (W=code 1, T=code 2)"
So which camera's can you expect this remote will work with?
We had a few different Olympus cameras that understood what this remote was "saying" and loved taking nice steady stills using the remote. I believe this remote should work with the Olympus E Series, C Series and some Stylus Series Cameras.
If you have an Olympus camera that you "think" the remote may work with, please do your homework and at least check these things
a) Visual inspection and comparison with an existing remote
b) Equipment manual (if you still have it)
Remote only
Clean
All buttons functioning great
Battery compartment is in excellent condition. The case & buttons are undamaged, this uses 1x CR2025 button battery
Used but undamaged in any way - tested 100% functional
NOTE: My testing method is to insert battery and look for the IR emissions from the remote control and ensuring every single button sends out an IR code. I know the codes are correct because we used it many times in years gone by but I just rechecked it prior to advertising as I no longer have the camera's to suit.
Stored/supplied in a sealed plastic to maintain its condition
The button battery will NOT be supplied (CR2025 which is readily available for around $2 from most stores such as supermarkets etc) to prevent any issues with Australia Post (they are very risk adverse to shipping packages with batteries inside) and also this keeps the shipping weight down to a minimum
Once you have the battery, just slide across the little lever at the rear of the remote and out slides the little tray. Insert the battery the correct way around and you are in business!
