The buyer must establish beforehand that this remote suits their own JVC equipment

Try looking in the user manual, if you have one.
If the manual is not available, try to see if the remote button layout looks "right" compared to your old remote - a bit hit & miss though.
Please be aware that every single remote sends a unique code to the equipment under control, just because you may have JVC gear it does not mean this remote will control it.
I do know that this remote WILL control the Mobile audio equipment, models KDADV6160 & KDADV6270 (see one of the photographs so you know what these look like)
If you are making a personal visit to purchase the remote, and it is practical to bring your PHILIPS gear to the house - bring them and try it on the spot!

This remote is powered by a button battery which if not stored correctly, can be LETHAL TO CHILDREN (in particular but of course any person swallowing one of these will suffer serious health issues) - NEVER EVER leave button batteries "lying around" especially where young children can pick them up and swallow them - the child will become extremely seriously ill and sadly, some have passed away due to these batteries causing extensive damage internally.
