HISTORY:
Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.
Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.
If you would like to know more about Ee values, please take a look HERE
This component has been removed from specialised rack cards used in the communications & broadcast industry.
These are quite a different construction to your "standard" BNC connector physically, where the body is very substantial (metal diecast) with two bolts for fixing to the PCB AND a nut for panel mounting.
The centre connection (RF hot) has a factory installed stiff wire which drops down at a right-angle to the PCB.
The most surprising thing is that although the connector is of a very high build quality, there is absolutely no identification anywhere ... it looks like a Radiall or Pasternack product, it is quality engineered but unmarked! The original equipment/cards were UK product, so perhaps Radiall is the more likely manufacturer. although I cannot identify the manufacturer!
UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER - BNC Connector
PCB Mounting with panel mounting nut
Female
Supplied with panel nut
Nickel plated
Design impedance possibly 75 Ohm - these were used for analog video outputs/inputs
DIMENSIONS:
BODY (Total front to rear): 38.25mm length
FRONT section (the BNC socket) is a standard BNC fitting
REAR section of the body is solid metal (no plastics) 19.5mm length x 16mm diameter (with two flattened sides)
Two bolts/nuts secure the socket to a PCB
The centre wire (0.75mm diameter) is factory soldered and while it is possible this could be de-soldered and refitted with coax such as RG-179, it would be a tough job as the centre pin is recessed inside the socket rear and does NOT dismantle.
WEIGHT: 25g (heavy for a BNC socket)
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED Ex comm cards
CLEAN
Now packed/stored in a sealed clear plastic packet
