Pulled from specialised broadcast equipment, the function of original equipment (Teletext decoder) is now obsolete
HOWEVER
this tuner module can form an excellent basis for custom radio receiver projects, further down in this description I give details of one such project design
SONY Tuner module
Model: UV916H
Covers the frequency range 45Mhz to 860Mhz
Analog tuner but under full digital control via the I2L bus interface
Control is provided by a TDA5630 (VHF/UHF mixer/oscillator) and a TSA5512 (1.3Ghz bidirectional I2L Bus controlled synthesizer) inside the module.
I have included a block diagram of the basic in/outs of this module but this module is capable of so much more....
If you take a look at the link below, here is a custom design for a receiver covering 45Mhz to 860Mhz with 1 Hertz resolution! under manual or external control - this article is very comprehensive and even includes the source code for the PIC chip included in the design.

If you love getting down, designing and building really interesting electronic equipment then this module is a great starting point.
