TESTING:
The easiest way for us to test this scanner was to plug it into a spare USB port on a test PC and then look at the barcode output in MS Word - worked extremely well.
The test machine is running Win 7 64 bit Ultimate and there was no issues finding a driver automatically
Scanning time depends upon how close the target barcode is to the scanner.
Using a barcode some equipment here (not very dense)
0 - 200mm distance the reading of the barcode is practically instantaneous
200mm - 225mm the barcode can still be read but it takes longer
Successful reading of a barcode is audibly confirmed with a "beep"
225mm - now the scanner cannot read the barcode at all
See the photograph for both the barcode scanned and the resulting reading showing in MS Word
