All passive RF signal splitters introduce signal loss at the outputs of the splitter however a tap is designed to provide a low loss output in addition to the normal "lossy" outputs (TAPS). Useful where different coaxial cable run lengths are involved or other receivers "down-stream" require as high a signal strength input as possible.
