HISTORY:
Very sad to see yet another very nice old English Garrard turntable become an 'organ donor' but at least this component may give new life to another Garrard enthusiast/restorer out there somewhere!
Ex the SL-72B (1960's) Garrard turntable
Early Garrard gear is just so good, particularly the 301/401
While the SL-72B was a nicely engineering machine, oh dear those plastic bits and pieces (tonearm rest etc) just didn't last the years and I have decided to make this SL-72B an "organ donor"
So, let's get on with describing the spare part I am offering here - remember, I am offering 'organs' from the turntable, the SL-72B is now a 'non-turntable' as I have carefully and completely dismantled it!
NOTE: Keep in mind that many Garrard turntable parts from this era are interchangeable with other Garrard models - PLEASE CHECK YOUR SERVICE MANUAL TO ESTABLISH THE SUITABILITY OF THIS PART TO YOUR OWN TURNTABLE.
This is a standard fitting cartridge and will suit many headshells
GARRARD TURNTABLE - Phono cartridge (pickup) SPARE PART
SHURE
Part #: M75B
Designed to track 1.5 ~ 3 grams
Spherical stylus with a radius of .0006" or also referred to as conical
Frequency response: 20 to 20,000 Hz
Replacement stylus is called a N75B OR if intending to play 78's then N75-3 (.0025" spherical tip)
This is the ORIGINAL Cartridge fitted with the SL-72B that we had.
Tested before removal, both channels functioning fine.
This is the complete cartridge which uses two long side bolts to secure it to the headshell, those bolts are NOT included (I have left them with the tonearm I am offering HERE)
I am NOT providing the head shell with this SHURE cartridge. I felt it was more "useable" to someone else to separate the various turntable components.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
Yes, you can see the stylus fitted (aftermarket styli with the drop down styli protector but it is not a Shure original), I will provide that styli but it is intended ONLY for reference when you purchase a brand new styli (which you should always do with a second hand cartridge) because that styli has been used and I do not have records of the "play time" although looking at the tip closely it doesn't seem too bad anyway. It is ALWAYS a smart idea to change any 2nd hand styli you may purchase because if you don't then the risk of damaging your vinyl record grooves is high - imagine running a nail around those grooves, that is what you COULD be doing. Always start with a new styli and record the hours of use too.
So to make it clear, I am offering the CARTRIDGE ONLY with the styli fitted but no mounting hardware (the two side bolts)
COSMETIC CONDITION:
CLEAN
Unmarked, no scratching
Pins (gold plated) are in great shape and straight
Since taking the photographs and creating this advertisement, I have now placed this M75B SHURE cartridge onto a foam base and sealed it within clear plastic to maintain the condition.
