HISTORY:
This equipment was originally designed for use by the medical profession, specifically for eye and ear inspection.
In the health profession this is a basic dianostic kit, comprising a direct Opthalmoscope (eye) and an Otoscope (ear)
In our previous audio post production business, we needed to look very closely at record styli to check for any significant wear or damage and tried various gadgets made for that purpose but they were never easily portable and cumbersome to use, then we came upon on this instrument - absolutely perfect for our purposes.
As a side benefit, it is also great for looking VERY closely at compact printed circuit boards (PCB tracks etc) or tight - difficult to see areas inside equipment.
So we are offering this instrument "repurposed" this medical instrument to our needs in electronics.
Now, this instrument is no longer required by us - there are NO faults with the instrument.
Heine Diagnostic Kit
Comprising: Otoscope & Ophthalmoscope
Made in Germany
Old model, primarily because modern diagnostic kits now use LED technology - this kit uses special purpose incandescent long life bulbs
Strong carry case, zippered
ITEMS BEING SUPPLIED:
Outer carry case
Medical Diagnostic Kit - both Opthalmoscope and an Otoscope
Both of these "heads" have light sources included, 034 and 035
Two additional lens for use with the Otoscope
Spare Heine 035 light source (used in the Otoscope)
Designed to be used by the medical profession, NEVER ATTEMPT TO USE THIS EQUIPMENT TO EXAMINE THE EAR CANAL OR EYES WITHOUT PROPER MEDICAL TRAINING
Its days of being used by a health professional are finished now but still a very useful instrument to examine "things" at very close distances - for us it was electronics and record turntable styli but there are many other areas where this equipment would be useful.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The main barrel contains 2x C sized batteries
Each "head" (Ophthalmoscope & Otoscope) is attached to the barrel by a push and twist action
Inside either head is a special purpose light source, the Ophthalmoscope and Otoscope each use a different type of light source)
There is a small green push button on the side, by pushing and rotating the light source intensity can be varied to suit the examination.
The Otoscope typically provides 3x magnification
The Ophthalmoscope typically provides 15x magnification
The light source precisely illuminates the target.
Easy to setup and easy to get very good image results - perfect if you have styli in unknown condition and wish to closely examine them for excessive wear or defects.
Very high quality optics - medical grade
CONDITION:
Substantially high quality metal construction, particularly the barrel
Excellent - clean and undamaged
All lens are clean and unscratched
TESTING:
It has been quite a while since we last used this instrument, so stripped down the instrument and made sure everything is nice and clean.
Loaded it with some new batteries and viewed a few very small items around here - working perfectly in all respects
Both the Ophthalmoscope & Otoscope light sources are fully functioning
The spare 035 light source has also been tested - also working fine
SPECIAL NOTES: When using the Otoscope, a lens is fitted at the "back end" closest to the eye. There are two supplied, the chrome lens just fits into the back but the black lens requires a small black plastic ring inside the Otoscope head to be removed so that the lens will fit.
Most of the time we just used the chrome lens, easier to fit!
Both lens are clean and unscratched
To prevent issues with postal authorities, NO BATTERIES will be supplied (makes it light too of course = cheaper to post)
This instrument requires 2x C size standard batteries. High current types would be best (Lithium or decent Alkaline)
