My Sansui DA-P500 turntable was a fully functioning turntable, albiet a "budget" model, but the lid was no longer useful so I have now parted out the useful parts of the turntable, all tested prior to dismantling.
My Sansui DA-500 is now an "organ donor", sacrificed so that other turntables may live again! Such a noble turntable!
I am very "big" on sustainability, re-using or re-purposing equipment (no matter how trivial or old it may be) because a LOT of EE (Embodied Energy) was used to create this module and to throw something like this away, poison our landfill etc is just so irresponsible and such a waste of expended energy. Everything we humans have created required energy (and raw materials) for it's creation and often that amount of energy (EE value) is surprisingly high. So after using those raw materials and expending considerable energy to create an item, we then throw it away! Such terrible wastage.
Anyway, here is the complete details of this tonearm assembly for the DA-P500

PHYSICAL DETAILS:
Tonearm shaft diameter: 7mm
Total tonearm length; 247mm
Counter balance: solid threaded
Pivot: horizontal single pin
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Straight and clean
The arm has not been abused
Tonearm wiring is original (5 wires - 4 from the headshell and one from the tonearm pivot which is grounded)
Comes with the headshell locking nut
Comes with the metal nut to secure the central pillar to the turntable board
TESTING:
Used prior to this advertisement over a period of a couple of days, actually not too bad an overall sound with the DA-P500 (with the exception of the conical styli) with nice free movement, solid feeling tonearm (especially compared to the rest of the turntable which is plastic plastic plastic) and no issues noticed with annoying resonances.
NOTE: I will NOT be supplying the associated original base, anti-skating mechanism at all - on this turntable the whole of the base was moulded as part of the turntable board and I just didn't feel it was worth the trouble salvaging any of the other mechanical components.
This tonearm assembly has now been packed safely and sealed in plastic to keep it in dust free condition.
